Baumer, Amber, Faculty, Technology

Amber Baumer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Pace University in New York City and a Master of Arts in Teaching, Elementary Education, from Western Governors University.
Before beginning her career in education, Ms. Baumer spent a decade working in the marketing and technology sectors in New York and Los Angeles. Her experience as a youth climbing coach highlighted the profound impact of guiding young people through challenges and inspired her to pursue teaching. A pivotal student teaching placement in a second-grade dual language classroom in Los Angeles further strengthened her commitment to equity-focused, engaging instruction.
Ms. Baumer is deeply passionate about empowering students to explore technology as creators rather than simply consumers. She incorporates tools such as coding, digital storytelling, and digital citizenship into her teaching, fostering curiosity, self-expression, and student agency. Her goal is to design learning experiences that are hands-on, inclusive, and connected to students’ everyday lives.
Originally from a small farming town in Ohio, Ms. Baumer brings a unique perspective to her classroom—bridging rural roots with big-city experiences. She is thrilled to join the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø community and, together with her partner, an ACS alumnus, looks forward to beginning a new chapter in Athens while contributing to a school culture that has already had a meaningful impact on her family.
