Director's Welcome

Welcome to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø.
As the IB / AP Director, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to a learning community committed to academic excellence, personal growth, and the development of globally minded citizens. With over 25 years of experience as an IB Educator, Examiner, Curriculum Developer, Teacher Support Material Contributor, and Academy Vice Principal, I bring both deep pedagogical knowledge and a heartfelt commitment to student success.
My formal journey with the International Baccalaureate began in 1999, when I became an IB English A2 instructor. Over time, I transitioned to teaching English Language and Literature at both Higher and Standard Levels—an area that continues to inspire my passion for inquiry-based learning and critical thinking. Since 2004, I have served as an IB Diploma Examiner for Group 1 and Extended Essays. This role, which I still proudly hold today, has deepened my appreciation for academic integrity, assessment rigor, and the pedagogical precision that underpins meaningful student learning.
Beyond examining, I have had the privilege of contributing to IB Curriculum Development; an experience that has allowed me to channel my expertise in curriculum design and my interdisciplinary mindset. In 2017, I was invited by the IBO to join the revision team for the Group 1 curriculum, where I worked to meaningfully integrate Theory of Knowledge (TOK) into language and literature studies. This work culminated in the 2019 curriculum launch and stands as a testament to my commitment to conceptual learning, innovation, and academic excellence.
Professional growth remains a cornerstone of my practice. In 2020, I was honored to be selected as a speaker for the IBO Global Conference in The Hague, where I was to present on empowering youth through the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Although the conference was ultimately canceled due to the pandemic, the opportunity itself reflected my continued engagement in global educational conversations and my advocacy for conscious, values-driven learning.
At ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø, our IB / AP Programs are more than rigorous academic pathways; they are a space where students are challenged to think critically, act responsibly, and reflect deeply. We foster intellectual inquiry, intercultural understanding, and a strong sense of purpose. We believe that education must be relevant and meaningful, bridging classroom learning with real-world challenges, including sustainability and global citizenship; key areas that also underpin my current Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) research which focuses on sustainability and global competence in international education.
Our faculty are not only subject experts but also dedicated mentors who support students in becoming their best selves: academically, personally, and ethically. Together, we nurture an environment where each learner is seen, heard, and empowered to grow.
I wholeheartedly invite you to explore our IB / AP Programs and discover how it prepares students to thrive; not just in university, but in life. It is an honor to lead this program and to continue building on the strong foundation of excellence, innovation, and integrity that defines ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø.
Warm regards,
Evelyn Pittas, Ed.D. Candidate
